Billions of litres of natural gas off the West Australian coast all going to China etc. and our politicians and gas producers tell us we are going to run out in a few years if we do not have 'fracking' on agricultural land. <:( >>:-(

Build a model of this at 1/96 scale and you could need a panel van to transport it to your lake.
Would be about 16.5 ft long! Dread to think how much ballast it would need... Would tackle one at 1/200 scale...

Seems like the "vessel" is more kin to an FPSO than a ship.

Most of the old FPSO's are just converted tankers there is also a couple of old submarine repair ships that have been converted. But the oil and gas companies are now building new FPSO's as it costs just as much to convert as to build new, they don't really need propulsion as they are anchored in place to the sea bed so they save alit of cash and room. But they are only going to get bigger as the companies want to increase there production I have seen plans for a BP and Chevron vessels that will be coming.

Would be interesting to have an understanding the crewing on these floating gas refrigeration factories :o
Are they classified under mercantile marine law?...or land based statute's?
If the former...........would they have say 7 engineers with a Chief's ticket in steam & gas? on the vessel at any one time......& say 14 subordinate engineers in training? ....Derek
