I was a little misleading with my last post, what I am looking for is a supplier in the UK for an extension similar to the one in the pic below:

Its a bit tricky I have tried modifying a current horn and gluing a plastic tube to it but its a bit messy

A little unkind, I was just trying to solicit ideas to save a bit of money. I guess I will keep trying different ideas and then revert to purchasing

Vic....this link shows literally hundreds of accessory servo horns....but none offering the option you want

I suspect one reason for not displaying an example that extends in height is that without adequate radial support outby, tremendous off axis loadings would be transmitted back into the servo output shaft bearings <*< ....

You could certainly produce your requirement by using two round aluminium splined hubs & fabricate/weld/glue the extension tube....however again radial outby support would be needed....Derek

If you only need a small upper area of the extension to be available then you could fix two plastic uprights to the sides of the servo and then glue a drilled block to fit between them. Maybe overkill with a bearing or something to reduce drag but maintain support.

I have made that as clear as mud so I apologise and blame this cheap Scotch  O0

Have you considered a bell crank system using links to gain the height you require  onto an other servo horn.

hi there Vic

Do you have access to basic tools? such as a 4mm die and a 4mm plug tap and appropriate drill which is about 3.5mm. If you do, the item you are after is quite easily made. I have done, and use this type of extension for the turrets on HMS Exeter. I very carefully drilled out the top of the servo where the securing screw goes in; but not all the way through - only about 5mm deep and then tap the hole out with a 4mm tap. I then found some 4mm brass rod and carefully put a 4mm thread on the end of that with a die nut about 10mm long. Then cut the brass rod to the desired length which I required and put a thread on the opposite end. I put a lock nut on the end that was going onto the end of the servo then and with a bit of Superglue onto the thread that is going into the servo - I screwed the brass rod into the servo and locked it down with the lock nut.

Then, if you require, you could cut a spacer tube to fit between the two lock nuts on the brass rod.

I do hope this is of some help.

To all those who responded many thanks, I have adopted a combination of these suggestions and when completed I will post a picture. The object of this was to enable the rotation of the 4 main gun turrets on my model of HMS Hood using servomorphs. The extension was to cater for the fact that two of the turrets where 1.4" above the deck line and I wanted a system that enabled me to remove the guns form the turrets to get at the servos should a failure occur. I will photograph the resulting system so that any other members facing similar challenges will have an option to look at.
