Title: Modelzone - Back in Business
Post by: tony52 on December 06, 2013, 05:37:14 pm
Hi,
Nice to see Modelzone have returned into some W H Smith stores. Plastic kits, railways, display cars etc. might not be everyones idea of model making, but its nice to be able to go and pick up paints, brushes and other modelling bits.

Hi Tony
I think my wife has plans for my wallet in Manchester tomorrow so a for a few minutes in the Arndale I can escape.
Any other model shops around the city centre?

Dave

Hi Dave,
I managed to get a look in this new shop today and it's ok, the salesman explained they are hoping to set up an on-line ordering service soon. Like most cities model shops are few and far between, the only other one I am aware of is the Locoshed in Whitefield near Bury.
I went to Liverpool with my daughter last week, must say I really enjoyed it too, the Maritime museum had a superb Titanic exhibition and full marks to the museum for keeping models as part of their permanent exhibition, as we have all discussed many museums are replacing them with digital exhibits. Good to see the Kathleen and May (Charlotte Rhodes in the Onedin Line tv series) tall ship in dock. Sorry to see the havoc caused by the storms.

Other than Scale Hobbies, what's the situation like for model shops on Merseyside?

Tony
