Post by: sparkey on December 09, 2013, 09:25:46 am
:-)) I was sitting in the car waiting for wifey at our local supermarket, a young lady with a couple kids and three trolley's of shopping plus christmas tree tried to get said load in an old Ford Fiesta, after about 20 mins and several attempts she succeeded, much to my surprise she managed it with ease,I would not liked to be in that car you could not get a fag paper in it,happy sailing,Ray.

We saw, at a Christmas tree outlet in a a forest in North Wales, a woman put her three kids in those nets they put the trees in to keep em tight, tidy and manageable for the car. They looked so funny sitting in the back seats with the nets tied in big knots on the top of their heads. She got the tree in too.

I had  to move my 8ft  supertanker a while ago and was amazed that I could fit it in my little Toyota Yaris! It's usually tight enough to get it in my Citroen Picasso...

When my mate takes his Clio to the Nurburgring race track in Germany, he has enough room for all his tools, a set of wheels, loads of spares and all of his and his missus's travelling gear with ease. And helmets too of course.

Doesn't beat our old race team van though, ex-BT workshop transit, that used to take 2 sets of tyres (with another 2 in the trailer), a full tool chest and a roaming one, jacks, gazebos, chairs, two 'doors' (it's a caterham so they aren't huge), a spare nose cone, a safe and God knows what else, and still have room for a stove for some bacon butties. Obviously the last item is the most important!

I was at the stage with my mazda3, two kids, wife and all the accessories that I very rarely managed to fit a boat in........................................but then I inherited this beast.

2x43",1x31",1x48" deep vees. 1x36" cat plus 2 chairs, folding table, workmate, tool boxes and fuel in a Fiat Seicento. I also have a 60" Phantom but that really is taking the mick! Almost forgot; ample food, facilities for making lashings of tea and my daughter.

The hull of my Dreadnought (1/72nd scale and therefore 88 inches) would, just, have fitted in my Nissan Almera. With the passenger seat taken out.

I now have a Nissan Note*.

An experiment is in order.

Andy

* Ace car. Though ugly as anything. I bought the diesel. A mere 80k miles ("Barely run-in, sir") and it sips diesel for a wallet-pleasing 65-70 mpg.

This reminds me of Candid Camera where they put an oversize fuel tank in a Mini, took it to the garage and told the attendent to "Fill her up mate"   He kept looking for the leak.  :embarrassed:
Could not do that now of course!
