Good find Grub %% :-))

Buy the buffoons a copy each of the rules of the road.
The rules are clear enough and following them would have avoided collision. But to turn to port???? Ye Gods, what was he thinking?
I wonder what punishment was given out for this incident?
-
It may possibly have been an attempt to swing the stern away. Or he was addressing the vessel astern. Whatever, it wasn't going to end well.
-
Look up interaction.
Jerry.

Agreed that is what caused the actual contact, but they had plenty of time to assess and avoid the situation ever rising in the first place, even more so with overtaking ships

clearly a case of sea rage, the bulk carrier should have backed off or even made an effort to give greater clearance, surprised the smaller vessel did not tell the carier to give him more space
-
In the video situation, what sea rule applies?

Under COLREGS the overtaking vessel is the give way vessel, so the ship astern should've kept well clear. No reason for those two vessels to be anywhere near as close as that. Unless the smaller ship went engines astern for some reason, and the bigger ship couldn't stop in time.
-
"In danger, with no room to turn, ease her, stop her, go astern."
"If on your starboard red appear, it is your duty to keep clear."
Both would apply to the following ship, and, as I said, following them earlier would have avoided any 'interaction'.
