I am after some 1/8 scale figures to drive my boats. There are any number of 1/6 and 1/12 potential skippers out there, but no 1/8 (8.5" - 9" tall) as far as I can see.
I am looking for fairly normal looking figures - no cartoon characters, aliens, superheros, Justin Biebers... Clothing not too important if the physique is right (oops - beginning to sound like a hormonal teenager %%)
Any ideas? Not too expensive, so no one off commissions, but a little work to get them looking the part is fine.

Take your tape measure along to the Cheap shops and look at the toy section. Sometimes you can modify a figure.

I think that some of the human sci-fi action figures, Dr. Who, Luke Skywalker, etc. come in that size and can be modified.

FYI
Action man figures that I have are 11.5 inches tall. I.e. 1/6th. These are genuine Mattel Action Man figures (scar on right cheek).

If you followed the link you would have seen we were talking of the HM Forces action figures, not action man! Of which I have a few even painted hair ones.

It was this comment that made me think that Action Man was referred to. I assumed that Mate was a typo for Mattel
there 1/6th scale mate based on a six foot figure there 12 inches tall :-))
and then there was this one to compound it.
cheers, i just remember them being smaller than action men... thanks for the update !!!!
and this one didn't help
am i right in thinking that the HM armed forces action men are 1 to 8th scale ?
Anyway - apologies again.

Got him! I was following the Luke Skywalker trail (thanks tigertiger) and ended up with this fellow - http://tinyurl.com/qcx6jot. Crikey! (Not sure how I got here from Luke Skywalker, but that's the magic of the internet O0 )
I now have him in my possession and he is just the job. His shirt and shorts will need to be repainted and I might need to doctor his hips to get him to sit down properly, but he is the right size and looks like he is enjoying himself. Thanks for the interest everyone.
Oh, and happy new year! :-)) :-))

Just hope he's not fishing for Stingray's.

I was thinking of using this guy, and at 12" he might still be 1/8 %%

Oooh - looks a little bad-tempered to me. One false move with that left hand and there goes my nice varnish! Mind you, he'd keep Steve Irwin quiet - I have removed the battery from my recent purchase because I kept touching the "on" button (his shirt pocket) and was getting a little tired of the Aussie banter and lecture on crocodiles! :} :} :}

Go on eBay and look for Happy Days figures. They are from the TV show here in the USA. They are perfect 1/8 th scale and very life like.
