Title: Warning for any o2 broadband users!!!
Post by: gingyer on January 05, 2014, 09:00:00 pm
Guys,
Word of warning to those who may of been with o2 for their broadband

Late last year O2 sold their broadband service to Sky.
It was promised that the rental would stay as it was.......
The new bill has just came in and to say - moderated -  is an understatement <*< <*<

The base price has remained the same but if you don't have sky phone and TV then they are now
Adding extra "supplement" charges which for me has doubled the price without warning.

I will be looking for a new provider ASAP and contacting sky to challenge this
So for those who may be in the same situation beware......

If there's a genuine increase I could pay it (grudgingly) Larry,
But I am not paying kid on supplements for no reason!!

They are all tarred with the same brush.... >>:-(

I recently changed plan/bundle with my same OZ Telstra....for $7.00 extra per month...unlimited local & unlimited interstate calls +++++++
We calculated I would save approx. $23.00 per month :-))
Got the first electronic bill....& find a $25.00 extra for an International Value Pack.........
Seems strange as I don't make international calls <*<

So spend 40 minutes waiting & finally talking to Telstra in the Philippines.......
Result is I get my account credited & the International Value Pack is removed from my bundle
The International Value Pack was not in my previous bundle & Telstra cannot advise how it was added to my new bundle %)...............Derek

Can't find the article but recall that one of the adverse results from free trade agreements is the increase  cost of  using the Internet.

Recall that it had something to do with the US insisting on ISP's monitoring and recording users browsing etc, as it costs money to do so then cost to use the internet will increase.

Seems to me that the providers want you to use more of their products.
My EE broadbamd is discounted because I have a T Mobile contract.
When I had Sky broadband I paid half the going rate as a Sky TV subscriber.
Surely when you are transferred to a new provider your costs should stay the same until the end
of your contract term.

In my experience, if you shout long and hard enough at Sky, they tend to dish out discounts
quite readily.

they did this with mine, however they will allow you to break contract earlier based on the fact they have broken theirs.
