-
Hi Martin,
I won't be building the California
To many other builds to get done {-)
-
thats a shame cos any warship built in glasgow would be the best :-))
-
Now try my HMAS Sydney 1938 at 1/96 . Fleetscale sell my large hull that is as detailed as my Tennessee [ which now sits in the main foyer of a Baltimore company ] Tennessee being broken up there.
Lots of fittings available in my shop for Sydney. Also Plans from me
-
JRH..........a little of track............is this the HMAS Sydney you note?.........
I had a long lost relo [CPOETW] that was lost on Sydney...................Derek
-
thanks john, would go with my 1/96 H.M.S.Penelope that i am about half way thru.

Derek
You may be interested to know that an Australian Diving company wanted my plans to take underwater for them to understand what part of the wreck they were looking at . They found the plans invaluable in an e-mail thanking me

Martin... as other have suggested....very impressive :-)) ....any chances of some images of the internal drive/s please?........
JRH.......in OZ...there was no mention of plans being used to identify the Sydney......not spoken about in real terms.....but Australia's greatest maritime/naval incident that should never have happened >>:-( .........Derek
-
hi derek i will try to do some phots over the weekend, there are four big motors driven by a large mobility scooter 12volt battery two esc,s
-
hi derek here are some phots showing the engine room, and some others as well .
-
Thanks Martin....it appears that the two inboard motors are linked as one pair....& the outer two motors linked as a secondary pair........
How is the steerage?.........Derek
-
dont know yet she is still a virgin when it comes to water O0 but soon i will have here in the bath for trimming and ballast, she has a big rudder and i dont have to worry about getting out of the way, you would need to get out of my way lol {-) but if require i could change the wiring and use the motors to steer.
-
Those motors should send her on at a fair lick.If the steerage is like on my Ramillies (Glasgow built!) using one pair ahead, and one pair astern, to turn, you should have no problem. I used 4 old fashioned Renault car heater motors in my battler, and really had to scale back on the throttle,on the test run.I just had the hull, with no decks or anything and ballasted her down to the water line, with a large car battery and 18lbs of lead. The bow wave was so high,it actually came over the gunwhales, into the hull!
Yours is going to look wonderful on the water.
Best wishes
