Title: Italian Coast Guard gate guardian Pt1
Post by: Deva on January 20, 2014, 08:53:18 pm
I'm in the fortunate position of working in Siracusa, Sicily at the moment. The local harbour has very few boats worthy of modelling. However I have found this Italian Coastguard boat being used as a gate guardian!

Forum member philk has provided  me  with the following details - according to Conways it's a CP239 class Italian Coast Guard patrol boat built by Rodrizue of Messina, Sicily around 1971.  25 tons 30 kts 16.8 x 5 x 1.7 meters with 2 Isotta Fraschini diesels. the notes say CP241 sank in summer of 1991 so it must have been salvaged.

I post the photos in 2 parts as they are of any use to anyone modelling something similar.

I hadn't thought of modelling it, but now that you've put the idea in my head it would compliment my Carabinieri patrol boat and my Cheshire Police boat. mmm

The marketing department would be a good start, chat them up and find out if they can put you in touch with someone in their archive. .............. and if you speak Italian (or can find someone who does) you'll be on a winner.
