Most model shops have K & S brass sections that includes flat bar.
Thicknesses from 1/64" upward and widths 1/16" to 2"

Hi wicker
If you look in R&D tugs and working there is a picture of some stanchions I had done at PPD at Lochgilphead . Thy are 3hole stanchions top hole takes a .75 mm wire and the other 2 take a .50 mm wire . Thy have the art work so it could be changed for your job . There is well over a 1000 on a A4sheet.

I was thinking about material such as this for my stanchions.  What is the most practical method for drilling out the holes for the wire - Pin vice?  That would be onerous for more than 20 or so. :((

Make a jig and drill them preferably with a pillar drilling machine.

Hi wicker
Have you talked to them I sent a drawing by post and they then did the art work it was all very easy. The reason I sent the drawing by post was I could not get it on the right file format to email them.
