Title: What is the real name for this tug.
Post by: Das boot on April 13, 2014, 09:25:09 pm
Got a tug for a few days ago from a guy who never gonna finish it and now hís wife told him it was time to sell, so a real bargain for me  :-)) . My plan are to make the tug finish and ready for the water, but there was no plan follow the tug, when I got it and the name "Wotan" from Hamburg, don´t seem to be the rigth name and nothing looks like mine when i´m looking on the internet. Do someone here know the right name or know where to find a picture of a tug simular to mine, so please let me know  :-) .

Best regards.
Brian..

I know robbe did a boat called Wotan but I'm sure that was a fishing vessel . I'm sorry I don't recognize the tug .

Hello

I'm not sure that this model is the one of a real tug

The superstructures are older than the hull  (the opposite is possible with modernized tug) -  The deck from front to back is flat without sheer - The bridge wings are too width (impossible for a tug) - Then a lot of details details make me think that she is a "free style model" with a free style name.

Best regards  Xtian

I at first thought it was a Caldercraft-Marie Felling as the Hull and first part of the deckhouse look very similar-it isn't though. I think Xtian is correct-a generic tug hull with a either a hybrid wheelhouse or bought lower structure and scratch made upper.

I wouldn't worry about it, it looks a cracking boat. Just finish off, strip the name and call her after your wife...job done.

Xtian, do you know any tug with this hull, I can make a new structure so the hull are from same time periode, but new some pictures of simular tug for making the structure. I do not know anything about tugs, but alot about scandinavian fishingships.

If I name the tug after my wife, in my case ex-wife, then the tug only will sail try the hell of fire and burn up  %) %) %)  he he !!!

Hello

As Danish, may you can think about the Thor or the Storesund

But the problem of you hull is the lack or sheer (longitudinal curve of the deck)

Thor :   http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/search.php?search_imo=8942826

Storesund :  http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/search.php?query=storesund&x=19&y=5 (http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/search.php?query=storesund&x=19&y=5)

Forgot to tell that the hull is made of fiberglass ans are 78 cm long and 22 cm wide, the guy that have it before me, have bought it on Ebay.de, so some one in Germany have built what you see on the pictures.

Xtian : Storesund is a fine tug and if nobody knows my tug, then I will cut my tug down and built it up like Storesund, but I give it a few day to see of theres is just one person who know the tug or recornize the hull, before i´ll strip it down.
