Hi, I have been given a "BARRACUDA" model flight motor, which is 3" dia.and31/2" long with a 8mm dia shaft. I can't find any information on this motor and am hoping someone can help me out here, I am hoping it will be o.k. to put in my tug Sea Trojen???
many thanks

Hi Clinker.
Its a motor from the 1980`s think it was black similar to a car fan motor. You would probably find the spec for it in an old mag advert for MFA stuff. Should be all right for the tug plenty of torque .

Hi, You can tell if it is a barracuda as it has a little pipe sticking up. I have used these motors for years. An excellent choice.
I ran my "Tyne Model" Northsider on a Barracuda, Geared 3 to 1 swinging a 5" prop, (prop shop). Nemesis

Hi nemesis,I am intending to use this motor for my tug with a kort nozzle swinging a 90mm prop,so according to the different coment's that I've received it sound's like it will cope very well.

Hi, Depending on the pitch of the prop it should be ok, check after running 10 minutes and see if the motor is getting warmish, fuse at 10 amp. I always drilled a little hole at the rear to oil the back bearing. Regards, nemesis.
