Post by: bigfella on July 06, 2007, 12:20:19 am
Hi All

Just thought you would like some photos of USS Kitty Hawk as she manovers into dock in Sydney Harbour. These photos were taken a couple of days ago and are from a TV stations helicopter.

Richard,

They would have been better off letting the tugs turn the city around, lot less mess.....

They would have some muck in their condensers, but, they will probably clean them anyway while alongside, that was normal back in the day for an operational carrier. Probably still is.

I think there are two tugs in attendance, turning the vessel which in my mind Say's that there is not that much water under the carrier.

Still whats a few dollars for repairs to the armed forces ;D

Hi All

I am led to believe that this is her last tour and when she returns to the US she will be decommissioned.

Hi All

I don't think they will be Aircraft Carriers as such but more like Helicopter Carriers. We Got rid of our Fleet Air Arm when the HMAS Melbourne was scraped. Sad day for our navy as my Father in law served on the Melbourne in the 50's.
