Hi all,
Thought I'd start a build thread seen as this is my first ever build it'd be nice to have a record of it and also to get some feedback.
I came about the kit winning it in an auction at Fleetwood Vintage weekend.
I'm going to be running a brushless motor at about 1500 KV.
I've attached some pictures of the project so far. As I do more of the build I'll post more pictures along with updates.

Thanks Ray, got my dad looking over my shoulder at every point so no rushing this one.
To be honest Martin, it's my first ever kit, and so far I'm finding it very good. It's nicely put together which is making the assembly great.

Don't be daft, Martin! You only ever build kits with "Robbe" on the box lid! O0 I built their Sea Nymph and found it to be great fun and very nostalgic, but there was no detail anywhere of how to fit electric power or radio, so be warned.

They are good kits Martin Jon bought me the sea rover kit for fathers day but cant start it till hes finished messing about with this one

Hi all,
I've had a busy few days, but heres a few photos to be going on with. I'll upload some more soon.
In the following photos I've started to put the skin on the underside and put the base for the motor mount.
The project is much further along than this at the moment but I just don't have the time now to upload the rest.

Where are you Jon? :(( I have started my SH this morning and was looking forward to more of your tips. The build plan is a bit confusing I find and I think, like you, I will build to my own interpretation of it. As the Tesco ad says -'Every little helps'!

This One in a cupboard for 40 years with plans and booklet.
The ugly top is the owners idea.
I am installing a new radio,3S Lipo battery 2650 mah, 28mm brushless motor and 45A ESC with reverse.
Prop 32mm x 1.4 pitch(2 or 3 bladed, I have one of each).
Motor I will start with a XK-2845B-2000kv 280watt.
I also have a B28-57-17L 1700kv 630 watt.

Hi, sorry about the long break in this build. I got carried away with building and also work commitments have kept me pretty busy. I have completed the boat now and I'll follow up with a couple more posts with the rest of the pictures over the next couple of days but here are a few to be going on with from where I left off. First we've got the motor mount and motor test fitted.Second we have the other side of the bottom skins going on.Third is a better image of the skins in place before being trimmed.Fourth is a top view once the bottom skins had been trimmed to the shape of the hull. Fifth is the prop shaft in place using epoxy resin. The process of fitting the bottom skins was fairly easy to say I had never done this process before. Getting the prop shaft in place was a bit more of a challenge but again I had the watchful eye of my dad when doing this step.I'm just off to work now so I'll post probably the rest of the build tomorrow evening once I'm in from work.

No worries Jon, it is good to see your boat is coming together well and neatly. In your 20th June post I saw what looks like another hull. It has a very pointy ram bow and it reminds me of a ninteenth century French or German Cruiser. Are my 'mince pies' playing games?

It's a project of my dads, I think it's the main hull of a stealth boat he was building.

Hi all,
This post takes us up to getting the boat ready for painting.
The first picture below is on the side skins all trimmed up all ready for sanding.
The second picture is of the fitting of the motor in place again after fitting the prop shaft. It was also fixing the motor mount permanently in place.
The third picture is a bit of a jump but it is of the deck after it was stained and varnished. This isn't the final finish for the varnish.
The fourth picture is again of the deck after its first coat of varnish. I also applied a good coat of varnish to the entire inside of the hull to create a nice water proof interior.
Pictures five and six are of the two hatched after they were made up. There was a slight twist on the back hatch but it's not too bad now I've tweaked it a bit.
I'll have another post after this one with some more of the boat done and then I'll be taking some more pictures tomorrow of some of the details of the completed boat and running through what was done.

Hi all, just another update to the log.
The first four pictures of this post are of the varnish being completed and the paint completed on the bottom of the hull.
The next four pictures are of the front and rear cockpits followed by front and rear close ups of the seats.
Next I've included a top view of the pretty much completed boat but with the hatches taken off to show the different compartments.
The last picture is of the boat from the front with added detail in front of the mast. This is the boat (almost) completed. I just have the fittings to paint up but I'll go into more detail in the next post along with close ups to the motor and battery compartments and more shots of the boat.

You are in front of me in the Sea Hornet build.
I am building one from the original plans, but, adding a few custom mods.
Smaller rudder hatch and smaller and longer engine hatch with a self closing vent door under the rear cockpit dash.

I've finally got the motor and speed controller set up right in mine now. It's so satisfying to sail it. It runs like a dream.
I'll have to get some pictures of the current setup. I've also got some videos to upload to my youtube channel that I'll link to along with it so you can all see how it goes.

Browsing through the November 1967 Model Boats, I thought you might like to know that the Sea Hornet kit cost £1/18/8d.

I finished my Sea Hornet with 3S 2650mah battery, motor B28-57-15L 1900kv 750 watts, 45Amp ESC and a brass 32mm x 1.4 pitch prop.
Our camera boat pulls 31 mph and I passed it on 3/4 throttle, so I reckon she pull about 40 mph.
The balance point is 10 inches from the stern and in a bit of chop at half throttle runs very nice.
