Right, you've got your Mayhem weekend booked, but if you are limited to weekends off, and have to arrange them in January, which other show(s) are 'essential' attendance? For the sake of the exercise distance in UK no object.

I agree Bill the Model Boat Convention is the best show in the country The atmosphere is electric, the venue superb and the variety of the traders cover the whole range of models and equipment. The clubs have some outstanding models and the members are ready to help anybody who asks advice. As we say it is a show for modellers by modellers.
Joe :-)) :-)) :-))

I have been going to the Boat Convention on a regular basis since the early 1990s at Ellesmere Port , it is still on my list of Shows to visit, friendly, excellent models and lots of advice where needed, a good selection of traders helping to lighten the wallet, I shall be there in August as an individual exhibitor, looking forward to meeting everyone. True, but I have to fit a few model railway shows in as well, then MrsJ demands our time away in France with the family. I'll have to start planning before she gets her hands on the calender. Perhaps I can offer her long weekends away in the caravan - "Oh look dear, there's a model boat show on just down the road".

Your last phrase sounds like a death wish to me.....Bill.....

Since nobody actually wants to be in France in October, Blackpool seems a safe bet. We have a good boat show, they don't.
