Title: Seaport tug motor ?
Post by: rhardy67 on July 25, 2014, 03:17:09 am
Can anyone tell me what size stock motor is in the seaport tug , looking for something with a little more power . the stock motor seams a little weak when pushing  , don't want to change motor mount , looking for a bolt on replacement .

I've torn mine apart now, but I think it's a 380 size...

Defo a 380 size
Anything bigger will need a change of motor mount.

I put a 385 in mine, worked a treat, not so high revving as a 380.

The 385 is a 5 pole Motor, more torque less revs.

Hi fhardy67,
You are running a 380 brushed can motor.
Nordsee is suggestion a 385 - 5-pole brushed can motor as a direct replacement (same dia etc), which has more torque (more grunt) and less revs.
So there you go, you have your answer.
I have done the same swap in one of my boats. (not a seaport), but worked well.
cheers

Would this motor work . 6 to 24 Volt DC 5 Pole Motor Manufactured by Mabuchi # 385S motor has a twelve tooth gear on shaft. 12 Volt operation, 1.09" Diameter X 1.49" Long, Shaft .055" Long X .09 Diameter. I know i'll have to take the gear off . Should also say I'm running 3s 5000Mah traxxas power cell battery .
