Title: Another one for the IT guys.
Post by: Arrow5 on July 25, 2014, 03:16:18 pm
I`ve lost Google Chrome somehow , Hotmail too !   I get a big panel saying " Error type: HSTS failure"  some other nasty looking guff including "cannot connect to tbe real www.google.co.uk.  The little tab at top of screen reads SSL ERROR.  Any ideas for a non-savvy old guy ?   Be gentle with me :embarrassed:

Yes - close Chrome if it's open, and fire it up.

If your clock lost the current time/date, you might need to replace the back-up battery. It's a little "coin" sized one in your average PC.

As to my pint, a Lagavulin would be acceptable!  :-))

Whisky!

When I moved to Scotland 20-something years ago, I caught an STV programme on locally-produced Glasgow whisky. Apparently a top-loading washing machine is ideal for mashing your grist in your single-end.  :-))

During a visit to the Tomatin Distillery a few years ago, the guide proudly showed us the distillery cat, kept to keep mice from the barley as it was malting. This cat was sound asleep on tonnes of barley spread out on the malting floor. All I could think was "that cat has the biggest litter-tray in the country".  %%

...but I drink it anyway.

Tomatin is now owned by Suntory , the Japanese brand. On a recent trip abroad I visited the ship`s shop and spotted some surprising brands and prices.  Investments rather than refreshments I fear..........and now I find I cant add photos >:-o    Some of the bottles were four figure sums £s.    So back to no pictures whadda whadda ? {:-{   This`ll mean another dram oh deary me >:-o

Hang on lads, I have an idea  %)     Got it !   These prices give me a sore heid just thinking about them.     BTW I`ll be delighted to confirm to my Japanese friends that the distinctive flavour of The Tomatin is indeed cat pee.   So how we manage to go off topic on Mayhem is a delight. :}

I don't think Famous Grouse is worth a hundredth of that, no matter what the age. :o

Meanwhile, your cheap £10 bottle from the supermarket is ... 92% tax!  >>:-(

(Not that I think supermarkets should be selling whisky at 80p a bottle - but it would be good if the producers' profit margins were higher. They could then employ more cats.)

Battery is usually a CR2025/32/35 type situated on the motherboard of a desktop pc, their the car fob and watch batteries, I have an islay I use for when I need a hot toddy, but surprisingly, I don't have that many colds now that I have the dreaded flu jab every October - damn - I still have 2 x 1.5 Ltr bottles of ouzo from 1989.

Thanks for the battery details. An excuse to get the dust out of the magic box.     BTW.  The big white ball in the sky is called S-U-N .

Cure for cats sitting on keyboard - spare keyboard, ditto laptops - a good use for an old laptop.
