The French people have just remembered themselves that Australia was discovered in May, 1801 by a Frenchman: Nicolas BAUDIN.
A company is being reconstituted to get back our property.
The troops train to eat of the kangaroo.
Bad news: Derek is going to have to learn French %)

Baudin did not discover Australia, but was actually the first to map the west coast of Australia, as Gazou said in 1801. He had 2 ships, the Geographe and the Naturaliste, both of which gave their names to places in Western Australia, Cape Naturaliste and Geographe Bay. As Andy pointed out, the Dutch were here in the 1600s, and Captain Cook claimed Australia for England in 1770. The First Fleet arrived in 1788, and the rest, as they say, is history.

If Columbus had set his sextant properly then he might have discovered Australia instead, and perhaps we would still not have reaped the rich cultural harvest of America.
Vive la France!

I pity the Ozzies if they have to take up the French delicacies as stocked in Carrefour shops - when I was in Antibe, they had skylark and such birds pegged out in display in little packets ready for cooking - poor little birds!!! But, now we have an answer - we know what is wrong with that singing Ozzie held here at Her Majesty's Pleasure - he must be a descendant from the French side? {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-)
aye
