Title: tamar lifeboat ( thoughts )

while i do some research into my hms sheffield build , ideally i want to get started on another build and get myself building
 
this has caught my fancy..... suitable for beginner ?
 
so really  first build... good quality and relatively easy build is what i am after
 
I know i will get stuck at some point and and sure i can rely on you guys

Hi Mike.
By their nature and the TLC from the Mechanic and Cox'n, Lifeboats are always immaculate.
Therefore a model lifeboat needs to be the same.
As a first model I think you want to do a tug or fishingboat as these are more forgiving if the
plan and instructions are not followed to the letter
Having said that, I have seen some fine first model lifeboats.
If you think you have the skills then go ahead. Model Slipway kits are the best and you can get help
from Jackie there and also from the members on here.

Check out my build log of HMRT Enigma tug under tugs and towing that is a model slipway kit it may give you an idea of what you are looking for.

so looking into this boat and need some help with extra parts needed

2 or 4-channel RC,

speed control,

 motors,

couplings,

 battery and charger.

got the shg catalogue but confused to what I really need, anyone care to take a look for me and recommend part numbers

Having built both the Model Slipway and Speedline Tamars, the Slipway version is much easier to build, although the cabin structure is a challenge.

The Model Slipway has excellent instructions and guides you to the finished model, with a methodical approach there are no big worries. Don't forget M.S. have excellent customer support.

You need 4 channel because a bow thruster is a great advantage.

Go brushless with LiPo's  and a heavy duty coupling. If you decide to go brushless, we can advise you further later on.

 Five blade brass props are best kept for display, it runs much better on 3 or 4 blades.
