Title: Schottel vs steerable kort

Guys what is the difference (apart from £10) between the Graupner Schottel (65mm) unit and the Marx steerable Kort?

Does the Graupner unit have greater "rudder" angle?

I think their both largely the same, although the Marx unit appears more 'toy like' in appearance. I've fitted the smaller Graupner units in a Jan Meerbeek tug and the control arm is rather 'delicate', taking a leaf from one of the belgian guys, I removed this and planned to fit a gear ring on top of a low profile servo, giving me something the same setup as on the larger units.
Im also informed that Prop Shop do a brass prop to suit, much better than the supplied nylon ones.

On my Graupner Schottel Drives the nozzle and prop turns, where as a steerable korts only the nozzle turns,
I have found the Graupner system far better for maneuvering.........

  Hi Billy, Don't get the brass props for the shottle drives it do's not make them any

dgp1957,

The schottel drive units are very controlable but the area requirement directly above the unit is quite large where as kort nozzles only need to have the rudder shaft and arms etc. as the props would come through the hull.

Schottle (or ASD) can be made to revolve 360deg giving a possibility of a forward only speed controller and other such permeations.
