Jack Bruce, the man behind Eric Clapton's rise to fame( IMHO) has sadly died at the age of 71.........
Boy did those guys make good music.

Probably the greatest bass player ever. Moved bass playing into a whole new dimension, rather than just working with the drummer as the rhythm section showed how to use bass as a lead instrument in its own right and the architect of probably the greatest bass groove ever with Sunshine of your love.

And Raphael Ravenscroft, whose legendary Sax Riff propelled Baker Street to the top of the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. Brought in as a session musician at the then standard rate of £27 for the day, the cheque bounced.

First thing I learnt to play on my bass was Sunshine of your love. Man was a genius.
Had to play Cream for my kids today, they didn't know who they were.
