Hi Everyone
Just out of interest has anybody made a working stingray model from the 60s t.v puppet show (troy tempest)?
Apart from the one that was used on it!
Cheers

There is a working model of this in Portsmouth, it is some 3 feet in length and there is a video of it on Myspace.

Hi john54,
I have a second hand part built glass fiber Stingray, that I bought on ebay.
It came with the hull and top mouldings, but no rear spinner, and the fins have been fitted in the wrong place (now removed)
If interested its for sale, as I am coming to terms with the fact that I have far to many part built boats to ever finish in my life time.
Regards Bob

Bob, Could you tell us a bit more about it, size, what's included, how much you want for it etc..
I've been looking around for something like this for awhile as well but only seem to keep coming up with resin or toys.

Hi All
Thanks a lot for all the replys.
Selling my dateline storm (brushless 5800kv!) on e*bay & looking for something less leary and interesting like a nice m.t.b or a stingray.
As i need to slow down a bit! Looks like i have been beaten to it.
Again thanks for all the replys & info
Cheers
John

Cheers for the link Well worth thinking about now.

HI all,
Well as I can't post pictures on this site, (cos I'm thick) I took my Stingray to Goole on Sunday so Portside II could take a photo or two for me.
Sadly he was away on holiday, so still no photos !
I will try and sort out how to do photos in the next couple of days.
The length of my Stingray is 38 inches, and it has a prop shaft, motor and rudder fitted. In my opinion, it requires a complete start from the beginning rebuild, ( although it was never finished in the first place) so should be considered as a set of mouldings with holes in.
I do want to sell this model as it should be on show, so if any one wants to make an early offer, they may get lucky.
Bob
PS, I believe it may be the same version as the one featured in Model Boats over many years.
-
Bob,
I may be interested in making an offer if I had an idea of what you had or even what you were hoping to get for it.
We haven't actually got a lot to go on as yet so I'm hoping that you can provide some information or, even better, pictures etc.

Hi Bunkerbarge and others,
Just had a thought.
If you are interested, then if you send me a PM with your e mail addy, then I can get my wife to send a photo that way.

She looks good though Phil.
Is it a scratch build, kit, shell, etc?
I really fancy having a go at something like that.
-
its all GRP, it was bought for me as a present, with all the RC gear in it, i must get round to sorting it out so as it will turn better I was thing of putting a jet unit in it.

Im in the process of converting an old matchbox toy ( approx. 12 inch. long) almost done apart from trying to keep the "cabin" watertight whilst removable >:( >:( >:((proving trickier than first thought) so I havent tested it yet but im hoping it will dive ok (dynamically) but its still theory at the moment.

Can post pics of what ive done.

That looks absolutely superb. If you ever get fed up with it let me know!!
How did you sort out the steering then?
-
Well its still not right, the main problem is the 2 rear fins!! they make stringray run in a straight line, so next plan is to fit 2 motors with shafts and do away with the rudder and use a mixer.

What about Korts, or
Jet drives fitted amid ships, but not facind directly rearward, but angles slightly outwards,
Less efficient forward propoulsion but she would turn well.
