In this type of ship, how did the crew get up to the director room?
Were the ladders inside or outside the tripod legs?
( Those tubes look a bit tight to climb up inside! )

Some of the RN Battlecruisers had the access to the spotting top inside the leg of the tripod mast.
There was s alight problem though.
When steaming the funnell exhaust used to heat up the leg, so much so, that they couldnt get down.
Food was passed up in a bucket and rope, just wondering if these had the same problem!!

Probably a ladder inside the central tube and thin seamen.

Thin semen?
Give up smolking, take regular excercise and maintain a healthy and balanced diet.

CDSC123, I did spell it right if you look carefully, and no, I haven't edited it!
Ofr course you know what they say makes you go blind..... ;)

Sorry Colin, I read your post and my imbecilic sense of humour just couldn't resist.
There was nothing wrong with what you said, content and spelling both perfect.
Just me, in a silly mood.
How do you make a Venetian Blind?
Post him plenty of free porn.

The give away could be, if you go to the enlarged picture, and have a look at the mast and compare its diameter with the wooden door on bridge, you will see that the mast diameter looks to be larger than the width of the door. So anyone who is used to scaling off pictures will know that the diameter of the mast will be larger than the width of the door - average door 2 foot 6 inches - 3 foot wide. So therefore the mast must be in the region of 3 foot - 4 foot in diameter. But, if you look further up the mast - where the mast is painted black, you will see foot and hand grab rails for working on the exterior with the main mast support. This indicates there could be either a door on the back end of the mast, or a welded runged ladder all the way up the back of the mast right to the top of the observation platform which I tend to favour.

I'd have thought that an external ladder would be pretty untenable with the ship under way - either roasted or suffocated (or both!)
