Title: Christmas / winter boat builds modifications

Hi all


It's coming upto that time of the year when we take a back seat from the frozen lake and maybe get some new boats and engines in santas sack!!!




Well my winter project is to try and replace my old trusted webra 61 in my b class BMPRS BOAT, with something a bit quicker.


I've got a smaller engine, West 52 which I am hoping will be a match for the competitive, powerful and bigger cmb 61's.


Lots of work to do,  welcome any one who has any info on this exciting engine, and also any info on other winter racing projects they want to share on.

Is the West 52 a specific marine engine or is it a aero engine you have converted, If it is a marine engine where did you buy it from?

The West 52 is available from Weston UK. I'm have bought the West 28 Marine engine, yet to be tested. I have only seen three of these engines running in boats and their performance has impressed me.

Hi Leaky!

Yes to add to what Craig put, the west engines come in different combos, some gearing options also.

I've run mine just with a Gallon of the Prosynth Fuel which Alan at Weston supplies. It is good value, clean synthetic.

Still early days but have to say so far, I am vey impressed with the engine, the Weston tuned pipe and manifold and service provided.

I swear by using reliable outfits, so I cannot comment yet on this aspect simply because I have not yet tested fully and raced fully the set up.

Hi all.


Update on west 52 engine.


Have now run the engine several times over the cold winter season.


Had to make a few changes to engine, peripherals and boat set up, as engine has shed loads of power.


Again too early to give  a  conclusive appraisal  on this engine's race winning potential, but can't wait to run it in the B Class BMPRS RACES!
