I shall shortly be starting the Chyld Hall RN torpedo boat semi kit which requires around 90 two hole stanchions at 1:48 scale.
It has been suggested that I contact James Lane for these, can anyone tell me roughly how much his split pin based stanchions cost?
An alternative would appear to be the Scale Link SLMF18 photo etch set.
Of course I could simply solder something up from wire but stanchions would probably look better at this scale.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Colin, the SLMF18 from Scale link are flat bar 3 hole not 2 hole...

Blurry is a bit of an understatement but they are good quality though..

Hi Collin try modelling timbers on the Isle Of Man they do 1/48 scale stanchions at very reasonable rate. I am not sure of the web site just type in modelling timbers hope this helps.

The Caldercraft brass two hole ball stanchions are really nice, various sizes, around 5 pounds for 10, a bit pricy but what isn't in our hobby. :-))

HI Collin just checked Modelling Timbers site £5 50 for ten you may get some discount if you need a lot. I have had dealings with this company in the past very good service.

Hi Colin,
Price earlier in the year was 15p each plus £3.00 post and packing. Any number supplied. Tinned copper wire was £1.30 for a 20ft coil. There are 8 different formats from single to 4 hole types.
I've always found them to be good value and Mr Lane is very helpful.

Thanks everyone for your input. Tony, around 15p each seems OK and appropriate to a semi kit. 50p each for the mainstream stanchions is a bit expensive when you look at the cost compared with the kit itself.
Decisions!

Catalogue e-mailed - it seems as though the price of the stanchions hasn't altered in 3 years

Received, thanks very much Geoff.

I recall seeing the catalgue published elsewhere on this forum and then thought that they were good value and quite strong looking. I used brass etched ones years ago on my Novgorod (College project) and they were very fragile.
