Title: Car ferry commission
Post by: morgsy on January 26, 2015, 01:16:46 pm
Hello there

Just a quick question. Is there anyone who does commission builds of car ferries with rc.

Many thanks

Rhys

THAT depends on what car ferry you are looking for Rhys.

I am in the process of developing a couple of kits, but the first wont be ready until a little later this year.

Check out the threads in the Working Vessels R&D section with 'Linkspan Models' in the title for an idea.

Generally speaking, working on a commission basis is not usually worthwhile for amateur builders as model making is very time consuming and those wanting to commission models find the cost to be prohibitive.

Of course there are always exceptions.

Doing a bit of 'research' Rhys, I noticed that you asked a question quite a while back related to the Stena Europe.
Is this the ferry you had in mind?

I have to advise, in the interests of your wallet, that she would not make a good r/c subject - she has too much superstructure above the waterline (and extremely boxy too) and she would be badly affected by even the slightest breeze.

Not a ship I would contemplate myself.
