Hi All
Started clearing out the last of my plane stuff from the workshop, well shed really but it does have heat :-)) Anyway found the motors shown below would they be worth keeping for use in boats or should I shove them on flea bay and put the money towards proper motors. thanks Colin
mmmmm that worked well back in a minute <:(
-
mmmmmmmmmmmmmm ....Colin.....I would tend to think you should save those Marx 3:1 monopile motors....not sure that they could have ever functioned in an aeroplane :o .... Derek
-
Derek the monopiles were to be used on some large landing gear screw jacks, so flea the rest then thanks colin
-
Goodness Colin ...the landing gear must have been sizable :o....hold off on the Graupners until you get a comment from some of the electric motor powered people... Derek

Here is the blurb on the Speed 600 Eco from the Westbourne Models web site -

It would seem that they are a good motor. I would assume that the other Graupners would also be excellent motors in the right situation, depending on model type and size.
Peter.

Quite right Peter, good quality motors there, definitely suitable for use on boats there's no way I'd put them on e bay %%
-
Keep all the motors. In time you will use them all. You can never have enough motors.
-
Thank you gentlemen for your input . Peter it didn't occur to me to look for them in boat model shops doh!! Ok back in the cupboard with them until needed.
Derek The gear was to be on a sizeable Catalina using the same mechanism as the full size.
Thanks again colin
-
With the current supply situation you would be wise to hang on to them
-
Absolute rubbish, no use at all for boats- best just package them up and send to me, i'll recycle them for you free of charge ok2 ok2 ok2
-
Such selfless sacrifice from Brian there, what a top bloke. %%
Nice little stockpile of motors, as others have said, you'll kick yourself one day if you put them on the 'bay.

Brian thank you for your selfless offer I'll file it away for future reference lol.

No problem glad to be of service :}
Seriously though, I had two of the Marx monopiles, when I packed up my remaining model stuff and sent it off to my Spanish address, I found 20 years of storage had not done them any good. Onemotor casing had rusted and it was impossible to turn it over by hand. Connecting a battery to it got a dead short, so make sure they do turn over ok before assigning them to a model.
-
I'll stick 6v across them before I put them back in the cupboard Brian
Thanks again guys for advice

Another smart move with electrical bits if they are going to be stored for and length of time is to put a sachet of silica gel in the boxes
-
No way I would part with them, not unless they don't work that is.
