Title: Moving house
Post by: sparkey on February 05, 2015, 10:58:58 am
;) Over the last week  I have just moved my daughter into her new house, never again when you are 70 years old it is all a bit too much what with all the carrying and connecting cooker, washing machine and dish washer, all the trouble of hiring a large van driving many miles and what with the weather being so bad it has been all too stressful for me and now I am completely shattered,I am going to spend the next few days relaxing and working on my boats for the new season, that will get me back to normal still when you love your kids you can not say no and I am just glad it is done, happy sailing guys,   Ray. ;) ;) ;) ;)

You are a good Dad Sparkey:-)) ..... I have three daughters & have lost count of the various moves  >>:-(.......

Best plan is to change your front door lock O0......cause you don't want them coming back @ 0200 some wet rainy morning  %) .... Derek

I'm about to undergo that traumatic experience myself next month. We have to drive the 900 miles plus a 24hour ferry home from Spain. Then empty our home in the UK and put it up for sale. Get rid of everything we don't want to keep to charity shops etc, lots of trips to local council tip. Cancel all utilities, move stuff we want to keep into  sister in law and aging father in laws homes.

Then make the 900 mile journey back again. I thought all our continental driving was finished with and any other trips could be in the comfort of an aircraft- I wonder why we adopted our 5 month old puppy sometimes, but being an animal lover didn't want to see her disposed of in a dustbin as the Spanish are quite happy to do!

After moving quite a few times, I would only ever get a company in to do the shifting.

I prefer to box it all up & unpack at the other end but I'm never going to move stuff like beds, washing machines, toolboxes, wardrobes & sofas ever again.

I'd rather pay and be refreshed when it all turns up and get the kettle on for the moving guys.  :-))

I discovered quite a while back that there is absolutely no back-strain involved in picking up a pen and a cheque book.......... 8)
Leave it to the professionals.

I did it for a living for eleven years...some of the best times of my working life. Met some lovely people...met some right miserable people. Went to some beautiful places...went to some horrible places. Made a few quid in tips as well...
