Hi all,
Im thinking of buying this kit:

but ive found the same kit elsewhere but for a lot more money. like here: https://www.wonderlandmodels.com/products/billings-banckert/
I'm hoping someone with more experience will be able to shed some light on why?!
Im really looking forward to this build O0 but am going to need some help with the electrics (what motor and what extras to add! :D)

It's the same boat at different prices. :} Go for the cheapest and you'll have more money for electrics.

Right... Boat on order, now looking towards a motor... A 900 has been suggested tho I can only seem to find a cem 900. Any good? And any recommendations for a bow thruster? Really looking forward to my box turning up!!

If you are going to a 900 size motor, why not look at a heater blower motor, more power enormose tourqe and about the same price, posibly less if you got a scrap yard nearby.
As to a bow thruster, look on the Deans marine site for Raboesh ???? they are very good

Who on earth recommended a 900 motor in a Banckert kit??? It will sink!!! Mine has a 385 motor on a 7.2v NiMH stick pack and it looks scale like with a bit of power in reserve...

Thank you for the responses! Looking at the prices on the bow thrusters it looks like they range from £30-£45 depending on size.... As the banckert is not huge Im thinking about a 14mm as that seems to be the smaller version?

paul have you used a gearbox? im looking to run as bigger prop as possible on this build :D so was thinking about tourque rather than weight :embarrassed:
jury is still out on the motor!

The motor was direct drive to a 40mm prop, motor barely got warm. If you need a bit more power this motor on 12v http://www.componentshop.co.uk/mabuchi-555-dc-motor.html (http://www.componentshop.co.uk/mabuchi-555-dc-motor.html) this will happily drive a prop up to 55mm & I doubt if you could get a much bigger prop under that hull anyway. As I said before a 900 way too big & would have to be mounted midships so if you are planning on fitting a thruster as well you will run out of room in that hull very quickly..
