hi
thinking of buying a fein mulimaster or makita or dewalt multi tool !!!
would like to hear from members that acutely own one
for the appraisals of these tools good and bad
do you find them useful of boat building

If for some reason I could only have one modelling tool, it would be a no brainer, it would be my Dremel 8000 10.8 volt cordless and I'll fight tooth and nail before I'll let anyone take it, %% {-) as you can tell I like my Dremel :-))

hi radiojoe
looks to be a very handy tool to have
that is why i was thinking of buying a multitool
no many replays to my question
maybe they are not such a great idea for use in model boat building??
no one seems to use them??

Hi Deepstar, I wouldn't mind betting most of the guys on the forum have a Dremel or something very similar, %% there's not much you can't do with them, grinding, cutting, drilling, sanding etc. In fact I have just bought a second one an 8200, 10.8 volt cordless, if you get one I'd recommend the cordless, you can use it anywhere throughout the boat without the cable snagging up and getting in the way :-))
-
I have a mini-drill with cutting discs, etc. It's useful at times but it's not something I use a lot - but that applies to all of my tools except for the screwdrivers, sharp knives, saws and files.

hi

Expensive bit of kit there especially when you can buy a for LOT cheaper and which seem equally as good.
I swear by Dremel and just had to replace my ancient one (runs but only at one speed).

I would certainly agree on the Dremel, but more particularly the cordless version. I have a Proxxon corded one as well as the Dremel cordless, and the latter is so much easier to use.

You won't be disappointed the Dremel does a lot more than the Fein multimaster as the Fein is not a rotary tool it can best be described as an oscillating tool which limits its usages, I changed the collets on my Dremel for a multi chuck so I can even use micro drills. :-))

Hi Joe,
Where did you get the multi jaw and is it made by Dremmel?
Cheers,
Peter.

I bought a multi tool rotary one from maplins with plastic case and tools a couple of years ago...find it does the job...when it breaks just buy another one......tony

Peter yes the chuck is made by Dremel goes from 3.2mm down to 0.8mm drills, www.uk.rs-online.com look for mini chuck about 9 quid but worth it :-))

Hello, I have the Bosch version of the fein multimaster my poor old dremel hardly gets used anymore, I find I can get into places you simply can't with a dremel, once you use it to cut your first set of freeing ports you wont go back.
Once the blades are blunt I glue sandpaper to the underside so you can use the left/right motion to sand right into a corner.
I really only use the cutoff wheels in my dremel these days.

I have three different ones, one being a Dremel 4000. Most Dremel owners like the cordless, the 4000 is not cordless. Against my other two the Dremel wins hands down, I do believe that Bosch makes it. Mick B.

If its the same thing as I am thinking of,I have just bought a Parkside Multi tool from Lidl store.Used it yesterday, and marvelled at what I could do with it . I cut out all the ports on my Arun Lifeboat Wheelhouse,on less than half an hour, and what is more, they will need very little sanding because it is such a neat cut. £29.99, with tools.Extra sets of tools including one with a diamond saw £6.50
Reaches and does jobs that a Dremel will just not do.I love my Dremel also!
