Title: Marblehead
Post by: Biggles on February 19, 2015, 12:12:15 pm
Hi Everyone

I bought this beautiful yacht off Ebay last year, the seller said it was a Marblehead, does anyone know which type it is?

What length is the hull?
A Marblehead is 50 inches.
But a 50 inch long yacht does not mean Marblehead.
It certainly looks like one of the older M class.
Whether an M class or not it's a mighty fine example.

It might conform to Marblehead rules but no Comp boat I have seen has a dummy cabin on it. They were all totally functional, nice boat even so, enjoy sailing it.

No bow bumper either, but the hull does look like an old M.
Could be pensioned off to spend it's twilight days as a cruiser.
Looks like an on/off switch on the rear of the cabin.
The writing is probably the name given to it as it looks the
same on both sides of the doghouse roof.
Still a good looker with a decent set of sails.

Thank you for your replies

The hull is made from plastic, not fibreglass, the cabin has a waterproof switch on the back.
The hull is 50 inches long.
The mast height is approximately 78 inches long.
I've not weighed it, but it is fairly heavy.
The sails are nearly new and it came with B & C rigs as well!
The inside radio gear is well laid out (photo enclosed)

Its a lovely yacht, I contacted the Marblehead Yacht Register, but they said they couldn't find the number in their records.

Nicely laid out, very neat! Should sail a treat, and with 2 other Rigs, an excellent buy. It must be a few years old as it has a convential rigging not a swing rig.
