A comment on anther thread about ticking boxes prompted me to post these taken on a recent bucket list trip. Anyone else have something to share?
-
Now that is something I would love to see. You are very fortunate, sir.
Dave.

Used to see the Northern lights quite regularly while I was living in Finland...... Even so it's still breathtaking every time you see it, and never the same twice
-
Hmm. Lucky man. That is something that is on my bucket list, but I doubt I'll even try and fulfill it because you can take a couple of weeks holiday in the 'zone' and still not see them. (A friend has just come back from 10 days in Iceland without them appearing. That wasn't the main reason for her trip, but she was hoping <:( )
If I won the Lotto jackpot I suppose it might be possible to keep tabs on the solar weather and zoom off to north Scandinavia when conditions look promising, but short of that I'll have to pass.

I went to Canada, Fort McMurray way north of Calgary, around the time of a new moon. Statistically you have an 80% chance of seeing them over 3 nights. However, you have to be prepared for -20 temps. Its worth it!
-
You don't actually need to go so far North. When we lived in the Derbyshire Dales we saw them - maybe not as spectacular as further north, but a lot cheaper {-) %% {-)

Hmmph. And how long did you wait?
-
As Barrie said. I remember in my pre teen years I must have been about 8 or so, at my dads house you could look north towards Beverley 9 miles away and see them quite regularly. Of course shortly after that a huge council estate was built and the only thing you could see then was a school they built opposite his house!

I think Dougal's idea was to share our own bucket list pics.
Here are some of my recent ones:
New Zealand North Island volcanic area - incredible!
Transatlantic Crossing - something I have always wanted to do since seeing the original Queens.
Spirit Island, Canadian Rockies - beautiful.

Is a bucket list somewhere you want to go, or something you want? Or somewhere you want to go to get something you want?
Rich

All three Rich.
Just done one of mine.
Whistler, BC
:-))

Ah, right...in that case I want to go to LA to The Count's shop: http://www.countskustoms.com/index.html (http://www.countskustoms.com/index.html) and get him to build me a Superbird.
Rich

Rich,
go book your flight and start saving the pennies, or it will never happen.
good choice of motor :-))
-
I won't live long enough to save up enough money for a 'Bird... <:(

Counts kustoms,love that show

I think a bucket list needs to be something you have managed to do or have a reasonable chance of doing in the future. Not something which is obviously out of reach - we can all think of things in that category!

Note; Count's Customs is in Las Vegas, Nevada, not Los Angeles.

Let's have some more pictures Guys!
-
Seeing the launch of an STS space shuttle mission from Kennedy, that was one. The replacement is to see a launch of the Orion module.
Got to see a couple of ATLAS rockets launch last year, one was a 'spy satellite' apparently!
I'll try and find the photos if I can.

OK
A roller-coaster trip to the US was one of mine, which I managed to do in 2012. Two weeks in California and Utah.
13 parks/sites, 64 coasters, maybe 50 other rides ... and some sightseeing:

More recently I've satisfied (nearly) my hankering for a big V8 - you just can't beat that sound :}
And of course one thing leads to another ... :

OK Colin - some from Down Under - these were taken in 2009. I wanted to add Mitre Peak, but I don't have a digital version.
The 12 Apostles on the Great Ocean Road
Uluru at sunset
The Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House
Mount Cook, New Zealand from the Hermitage Lodge
Bluff - the tip of South Island and as far South as I have been!

Of course, there are some spectacular sights nearer home.
