Title: Microsoft Excel Glitch
Post by: derekwarner on March 12, 2015, 01:25:36 am
Guys....I know this is our WEB site for model boats....but I have exhausted GOOGLE in attempting to understand my Microsoft Error

1. I installed a licenced copy of MS Office Home & Business 2010 in approx. 2012
2. It is installed on my desktop and my Ultrabook

3. Last week......when using MS Excel on the desktop...the lines, text & figures started to scroll >>:-( <*< ...copied the file to a ZIP drive, opened it from the Ultrabook and all is OK
4. Used the MS CD repair function on the desktop........no better
5. Deleted & reinstalled the complete MS Office on the desktop...still no better

I finished my work task on the Ultrabook so all is OK, however to print a copy from the desktop is like using a time bomb

Have probably viewed 1000 items referencing incorrect or scrolling text & numeral's in Excel via GOOGLE ...but to no avail

Any ideas?...............Derek

Seeing the 'click to add footer' made me think it might be a sticky key/click button on your keyboard or mouse.
Try swapping them out.

The other thing is looks a bit like is a screen image problem. Could be your video card.

The main reason I am thinking of local machine issues is because you said you found nothing with a web search.

TT..........I have been experimenting with a Microsoft Access database with tables some 80 fold more in line number & 10 times line size content but these are totally rock stable {:-{ ...... Derek

Either - Get a free copy of Libre Office, handle the spreadsheet in that, see if the same thing happens. (This will probably mean a pile of cell reformatting)
OR - If both ultrabook and main PC are on the same network, share the printer and print from the ultrabook.
Doesn't solve the original problem, but either might give clues as to whether its a problem with Excel, the program, or the machine.

I don't have a copy of that version of Excel to hand but we had a similar issue with the 2013 version at work.
We resolved it by setting "disable hardware acceleration" in the advanced options

In excel 2013 this can be found by clicking file/options/advanced and the tick box is about 1/2 way down the list

E2V......

1. have checked my desktop 2010 version of Excel & the path with advanced options & is different to your offer in 2013
2. also compared the Ultrabook settings path with advanced options & they are identical
3. cannot see any reference to "disable hardware acceleration"

appreciated......Derek

Hi Derek

In Excel options, resources have you tried the Microsoft Office Diagnostics. I use Excel a lot and I have never heard of this issue, have you had any updates on your machine?

Its a function  of the computer called sticky keys (caret browsing). Turn it off by pressing the function key F7.
