Our Club have been given this Yacht Hull to complete.
Its about a Meter long at a guess, no internals, steering is by ( not sure as some mechanical brass bits came with it ).
So do you have suggestions to what it is and what sail type to fit.

Thanks for any answers.

The steering is vane steering and the yacht has a similar shape to the old Alexander racing yacht should have a stamp on the deck if it is a Alexander

Hi Len.
although cant see it too well from the pic you have posted appears to have a vane steering gear on the rudder although looking at where it is it may be a braine gear. An overhead shot would comfirm more. Seems to have turnbuckles on it which would suggest wire rigging and a deck stepped mast. Looking at the style of the rudder would suggest pre-1960 model. It could be a 36r thats had a cabin added as the deck house in front looks out of place.

The r in 36r denotes radio.
36 means three feet not a meter.
A yacht of the age would have been measured in inches.

Ned.
get it right. R36R. denotes radio. 36r is 36in restricted. O0

Sorry Frank,
A senior moment >>:-( >>:-(
I know the capital R in front of M class and 36 restricted
means radio and the little r means restricted.
Had radio in th head so jumped in without thinking :embarrassed:

Just thinking Frank.
What was the waterline length of the 36r ?

Not sure if it is a racing class. My uncle built me a yacht looking very similar in shape and size when I was a kid. (Not going into when that was ;) suffice it to say around early 50's ) It was a Bermuda rigged pond yacht and had Braine steering and as mentioned already, a deck stepped mast.

Hi Big Ada did you progress with this yacht? Never really found out how long the boat is.
Interested to know.

It got passed on to a Club member, and that's the last I saw it.

If it never got put back into sailing order and no one else wants to take it on, I would be interested.
