Title: Towing Winch
Post by: destroyer42 on July 24, 2007, 08:35:49 pm
Hi Has anybody built a working towing winch? If so how is it done? I have been looking at a graupner motor connected to a worm gear and then to a cog which will turn the cable drum utilising a small speed controller.
Any ideas.

                ...Hi Guys...
Here is a picture of the Working Winch Set-Up in my Shoalbuster tug...

An Electric Screwdriver Motor & Gear Box stood upright in the hull with the drum made from a 6mm allen key & 2 discs from a Servo...Powered by 3 x 1.5 volt batteries & controlled by a Speed Controller...The Tow Rope can be passed through a hole in the front or back of the Deckhouse over the drum of the Dummy Winch on Deck & out to the Tow...

The Winch can be laid across the hull or stood up in the hull, depending on the space available...

...Best Regards...Norry...
