Afternoon all.
After the earlier posts about overloaded motorcycles, here is mine at Somners pond with my 43" Armed Trawler and 1/16 Sheman that I took to Somners Pond. Getting them, the tent, clothes, food, chair, cameras etc on the bike an interesting exercise

After this years Wicksteed, turning up with a car full of suitcases etc for the following weeks Holiday it made me think about more space efficient ways of transporting models as I hope to bring some larger boats to next years show.
One idea I had was making up some more packing crates to allow me to transport them on the roofrack.
I just don't know how easily that would sit with me, them being up there for 190+ miles  {:-{

Cheers Colin, I forgot about that one!
Its a right pain transporting the models plus camping gear. The trawler gets stripped so there is just the hull which then gets strapped across the passenger seat. The superstructure etc and tank and batteries go in the panniers with the rest of the stuff packed around them. I would take a photo but you don't want to see the state of that lot after a weekend!

 :o A club member tried the roof rack method and when the strap broke left 3 boats all over the M1,I personally would not risk my beloved boats that way,you only have to break hard in an emergency and anything can happen,I have a large roof box which can take the lighter boats in safety but the heavy ones have to go in the back of the car,Ray. :o

I would live a car but parking where I live is awful. Next year U am hoping wifey lets me borrow her car

I am in the same position but i cant justify the cost of a motorbike like that and use a 125 scooter instead. So i am just gonna make boats that fit in my topbox, apart from when i can use the car  :-))

The MotorFlote has a purpose built carry box, it sits in the boot of my car quite safely...being wide and square, the chances of it falling over are pretty slim. I hope...

Could you have made provision to cover the top as it does look vulnerable to things dropping on it.
