At one of the Boat Shows someone sailed a superb amphibious Triumph Herald. Are there any plans available, please . Not after any freebies. Thanks, Pete

I'm sure it was featured in an article in Model Boats magazine....
Some photos for you.

Anyone done a sailing version like James May's on Top Gear.

The one featured in Model Boats magazine was Ashley Needham's Top Gear sailing Triumph Herald. It's shown in the show report: http://www.modelboats.co.uk/news/article/model-engineer-exhibition-2014/21702 (red sails) and was featured in an earlier edition of the magazine and in the 2014 Special issue.

Martin, that`s the one. I have the article on the yacht version, I really need info on transmission and steering. Thanks, anyway to all. Pete

The original full size version of the red one is an Amphicar, a German made amphibious car, not just a converted Herald. Google to find more.

The Amphicar was a completely new body design which used the Herald's 1148 cc engine and elements of the suspension and transmission. They apparently change hands these days for ridiculously high prices. If I was going for an amphibious vehicle I'd build a Schimmwagen, WWII amphibious german jeep. Mind you, I might end up on the front page of "The Sun"

Martin, one of your photos showed the car on The GL. and Dist. stand. Have now got in touch with them. Once again, many thanks. Pete

They are doing an attraction at Downtown Disney in Florida where you can ride in an Amphicar - god knows why - like most 'hybrid' vehicles, they make a rubbish boat and a rubbish car, but people seem to be paying silly money for them.
I've seen a couple being restored - incredibly primitive suspension mechanicals from an old Mercedes with the Triumph engine mated to a modified Porsche 356 gearbox.
They rust like mad - more so if they have ever seen salt water!
I'd go for the Schwimmwagen replica.
You can get a replica body for VW mechanicals - http://www.schwimmwagenreplica.com/solutions.html (http://www.schwimmwagenreplica.com/solutions.html)
