Finnish wartsila has built the world's largest and most powerful engine. Diesel engine is high as a fyrvåningshus and has an effect on senseless 109 000 horses and a twist on small unimaginable 7 600 000 Nm.
The engine is a common-rail-diesel at 1 820 litre with 14 cylinders. A large motor obviously calls for a lot of soup, and the sörplar itself 271.32 litres per minute. It weighs 2 300 tonnes and measuring 13,4 metres in height and 27,4 metres in length.
The Stove's in Emma Maersk, one of the biggest freighters in the world. Usually a freighter usually have a best speed of 18-20 knots, but Emma Maersk Peaks whole 31. Vessel is twice the size of Titanic was and weighs 170 000 tonnes.
That's a diesel engine and not a Heavy Fuel Engine Oil one ( due to the sulphur in HFE Oil they are being phased out ) and would probably take more in fuel just to start it and run it for a minute than my little car would use for a year !! ( only use around 200L a year , 1500 miles )

I've been to the smaller factory where they make the small & medium engines these are 200-640mm bore & they build everything from I4 to V20s. Most of them even the boat ones drive Gen sets. The heads are individual & are 4 valved.

There was some wonderful stuff on here a few years ago about dealing with the older and more primitive versions of these engines when they become worn. I seem to remember that when you needed to go astern the idea was to chuck a bucket of oil in the top and hope for the best.
