Title: I D this Sub ?
Post by: Max Buoy on July 26, 2007, 08:14:39 am
I've just bought this sub on ebay, the vendor knew nothing about subs/boats (selling part of an estate) This is my first sub so i am a little clueless to exactly what it is???
Does anyone recognise it.

Thanks   Max..

Hello, Looks very much like a wooden built hull from a plan that you can buy, a very basic slab sided construction for a dynamic dive sub. I forget where the plans come from but I believe the gent that does them is still doing it, He was at the Warrington show last year and probably will be this year too ( August bank hol wekend at BIRCHWOOD Warrington) Hope this helps. :)

Sub diver I am sure you are right - if this is a wooden hull, it comes from the Model Boats Plans - when I get time sometime today, I will dig the plans book out and check because it does look like it  ;D

Looks like 'Undine' which was published in Marine Modelling some years ago-

I was wondering that last night, I am trying to find my plan of it for  a comparison.

Thanks Gents & Jenno.....

Now Jenno be very careful when standing close to the edge, the water at Bryn Bach can be very wet at this time of the year.. ;D

Having collected the sub I can now see that you are all right, it is scratch built from the plans you mention. The builder did not built it to submerge, so it's a surface only model.  It's a nice addition to my fleet and at least I don't have to worry about it surfacing...

Max.
