Hi all have twin tornado thumper motors in my 1/12 severn just no sure what batteries and where to get them.
-
Have a look on Componant Shop web site ,they will have what you want.
-
I have a car. Should I put diesel or gas inside? {-)
What motors do you have?
-
Chippie
I think Tobias is gently hinting %) that there are quite a lot of different "Tornado Thumper" motors on Overlander's website. The battery requirements would therefore vary considerably. The motor size/reference number would be of great help here e.g. "5045/10 720kv".
As with everything on this forum, the more you tell us then the more we can tell you.

It's a pity there isn't a "Take my hat off to you" Smiley on here. This will have to do :-))

Who's wrong here ?

Me, I'm afraid! Springing to your defence re TimeBandit's "car" post. :embarrassed:
Subtlety must be something that goes underwater?
Chippie - if you're running your lifeboat long periods until the batteries are nearly out, then go for Ni-MH rather than Lipo as they are more forgiving when deep discharged. If you do go for Lipos and don't have telemetry, then get a LVA (low voltage alarm) which has a buzzer and leds to warn you before you over discharge them as this can result in their death.
I have used HobbyKing UK for Lipos and Component Shop for Ni-MH's. They are both good suppliers.

Subtlety .... what kind of motors are they?!
-
Will look on Sunday and let you know when im home , they are the biggest for a 1 /12 speedline severn lifeboat.

"Subtlety" is not a subject with which you need to become familiar as a Forum owner. "Thumpers" is more your metier.

Well after all that hear are the motor numbers T4250/07 700watt kv710 (overlander thumper 2)

Right then I used to use 12v 5000Nimh packs from component shop....these
http://www.componentshop.co.uk/12v-5000mah-sc-nimh-compact-battery-pack.html
Use 1 per Motor.................you will have to use proper connectors XT60 or similar as the Tamiya type wont handle the power through them.....just ask Component shop to change them and supply with those type and they will also get some for the batt leads in your boat
You can also use Lipo batts in this but Ill leave that to someone else to comment on as I don't know enough about them

Thanks for that ,don't think im going down the lipo route to much money with charger and to much hassle just wanted to try lighter batteries as still on lead acid plus not keeping the lifeboat for much longer so won't need batteries .info much appreciated.
