Morning southsteyne2.......

John........if you use Microsoft IE [internet explorer] ...just highlight the text & right click

This then provides an option to 'translate the text with Bing' to any listed language...

Google will also translate text for you.............

If you continue having an issue, you have my e-mail landline address........just copy the text & e-mail it to me....I will translate & copy it back to you.......

Hi Derek thank you for your reply but I have moved a long way to Gwynnville now and unfortunately lost your email .
I have tried to edit and select text but not very good at this may be the format so ms word converted the document to pdf but as there are 64 pages still no luck {:-{
Cheers

John......what is your new address?

I could call over tomorrow [Friday morning @ 0900] & bring over my lapbook

It is better not to convert the text to .pdf, as then we must convert this back to .doc [WORD] to translate it, however can do this if needed

I am still xxxxxx@bigpond.net.au  ......actual address in the PM......your call

I have not done it yet, but if you download the google translate app to your phone, you can use your camera for instant text translation. Android and Apple versions available.

As above, there is a similar app for Apple phones as well.  My wife has used it on various documents and while not getting every word correct, it does do a good job of scanning the page and giving you something intelligible in english that you can usually understand.

Or if you have outlook on your pc - not everyone uses it, select the text and right button click - a small dialogue box pops up and 3/4's of the way down it says translate select it and translate, a column appears to the right, change the 2nd one to the language of choice if available and the text appears in the area below, we just did it to convert a drawing of ours into Russian - its sometimes not perfect - but a competent engineer could understand whats written - bit pigeon English fashion.  :}

I have used the google translate for German several times. One tip Translate from English to German then translate back to see if it makes sense. Adjust work till it makes sense

If you come over technical terms (which google and all others are often translating without a sense) PM me.
I´m a german native speaker, so I should be able to translate.

Best (single word) translator I know is www.leo.org

Subject: Strongbow Plans 16.10.2015 - Translation Attempts

John
1.   You Strongbow plan text that suggests to be in .docx  Word is really a .pdf file that embed in a Word shell  and as such not editable as we saw
2.   I have converted to Strongbow .pdf file into a .docx Word file but in German text
3.   Parts of the text can be highlighted and pasted into Outlook, then translated to English
4.   I have translated the file for the first page as below in green
5.   As you see, some of the words do not have a clear translation
6.   However the file size is 52.9 MB and too large to e-mail…. I attempted to ZIP the file but it only reduces to 52.8MB
7.   I have copied the 52.9 MB file to a flash drive & can bring it over on Monday  morning
8.   From there you can copy page by page, paste the text to Outlook then translate & print  it yourself
9.   If you attempt to copy text next to embedded images, the software gets very confused………so you will need to be patient
