and they tried to put their armies into every land from the foot hills of the Urals to the western coast of Europe.
Who does that sound as a modern nation, interfering with every one else's business.
It's a good job that nuclear fission and fusion weren't around in those days.

The mind boggles about today's parents (I cannot wait for the abusive response!) its no problem I'll sit and talk to my friends whilst my kids run round like loons,as we all did if allowed, thankfully my generation were brought up to have respect and manners but hey what do I know? Strange really strangled at birth comes to mind! which is what my nan said about me when I was 6/7 ish and a daredevil without fear (in hindsight I think it was without knowledge of the consequences). If you think about it its free child minding when they go out somewhere.

I arrived in December 1951, when everything was still grey and rationed. I have little memory of anything except a normal happy council-estate upbringing until about 1962. I guess this was the year when the majority of kids stopped accepting that they would have to grow up just like clones of their parents. Elvis had started the teenage rebellion but The Beatles moved it to a whole new generation in 1962. I was there.
This Christmas I'll be 64 (along with Vera and Chuck*). Makes you stop and think, doesn't it?

Vera and Chuck were the grandkids (on our knee), so they wouldn't be 64 too! You will find that your 64th birthday has all the impact of the Millenium Bug - and is slightly less interesting! Do you find that its getting harder to work out how old you are now? I put it down to the Millenium (1947 to 2000 = 53... 2000 to now is 15... so I must be ...??)

I arrived 1949 and much to mum and dad's worry from around 6/7 years old was smitten by motorbikes (cousin;s Roy and John you have a lot to answer for) this has still not changed my Duke will be off to Knockhill next year we already have the tickets. I just wish the modern youth could have the cameradrie and joint respect that bikers have! if I see a biker stranded whether I am in the car or on the bike I will stop and, if I can, help. How many car drivers will do that? Thing is they don't know what they are missing and I do not mean the kn+++++d wheelie merchants who would be lapped on a circuit by any of the racers.
Maybe we are going backwards or is this progress?
P.S. I am a computer Dinosaur and frankly quite happy with that.
