Whenever I go to the microsoft edge browser, I get a very fake-looking "talktalk annual opinion survey, "this site says....."". The back and close buttons will not shift it. This does not pop up on google chrome. I have not knowingly downloaded anything recently. I've done a scan on Clary and AVG and neither is picking anything up. How do I kill this pop-up?

You must be one of a very small few using Edge.

not the only one! I too use Edge along with Firefox, each has its merits and shortcomings.
Tobyker - - -To turn off pop-ups in Edge:
START click Settings, choose NETWORK & INTERNET, then choose either WIFI or ETHERNET and down the bottom on the right hand half of the page click INTERNET OPTIONS, either a window will open or you'll see an icon appear on your taskbar along the bottom of your screen, if so click it an a window will pop up INTERNET PROPERTIES, from the menu choose PRIVACY and then under Settings check the Turn Off Pop up Blocker,

Edge is fine. , accept for some Forums.

Thanks, Trevor. I looked there and the pop-up blocker was on. Strange.

I cannot now turn Edge off - if I tap the Icon at the bottom the screen goes to my wallpaper, but the Edge screen is only minimised and as soon as I click on the edge icon I am back to the "survey" page, which is half-greyed out, and none of the buttons can get rid of it. However google still works so I can get on to other applications, such as this one.

You might be one of the 150,000 whose details were pirated and this could be a symptom. Knowing their recent history, I doubt that talktalk would be looking for anybody's opinion.
Download and run an up to date copy of ADWcleaner from a trustworthy site - http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/adwcleaner.html - then go over it with malwarebytes as suggested earlier.
If an unwanted entry persists on the taskbar, right click it. One of the menu entries should let you unpin it.

best free one I have found, works for me.

I'll back up the comments on Malwarebytes. It has done a brilliant job for me.

Thanks. Late last night the thing disappeared all by itself. It did say I was "chosen" for 8 Nov. I await its return with interest!
