Hi there, back again with another build, actually have 2 ,I have been working on but will post separately, this build is of a 54' (ft) timber prawn trawler which was built at Byron Bay N.S.W (around 1972 ?) and worked from our home port of Brunswick Heads (about 12 miles north of Byron Bay) . Have kept to the 1:16 scale , 3/4" to 1' = 40.5" (inches).
Photo 1... Frames up ready for planking ( previously posted build "Rambler" in background).
Photo 2...Start of her planking.
Photo 3...As most of the lime wood planking wasn't quiet long enough most of the planks had to be joined.
Photo 4...Her hull half planked (alongside the other build ,same size but different hull).
Photo 5...with the planking on these models didn't average the planks completely to their top sides.

Next post of photos.
1...ready to put the 2nd last plank in the port side.
2...starting to cut the Tasmanian Oak ribs (for both models).
3...Placing the spacers between the ribs.
4...cutting out the deck beams using Red Oak ( looks like a type of Silky Oak ?).
5...Soldering the oil feeder into the stern tube.

Thanks Steve.....next lot of photo's.
1....Shelf's and deck beams installed, motor pre fitted to shaft.
2...Made up removable bases for the ballast box's( slides for both model's) to be able to slide each box with ballast forward under the front deck section which has no soft patch.
3 & 4...Start of the beds for the Servo , ESC & TX .
5.....View of where the slide base for the ballast box's positioned , motor base and Servo ,ESC & TX base.

Next lot of photo's..
1...Showing the ballast box frame with one tray ,most of the frame and box's were made out of Bamboo Venetian blinds.
2...View looking astern, the extra blocks between beams where the goal post's will sit.
3...Fitting the 2mm deck ply ( the underlay for the lime wood deck strips, only on the main deck area).
4 & 5 ...Start of her wheel house.

Hi Perkasaman, I suppose it's like most things the foundation and preparation are the most important, as my Father would say to us 'If you can't do it properly than don't do it at all' (well a bit more colorful than that :) ) .

Hi guy's ,glad you's like it, next photo's.
1...Cutting the black cardboard strips to act as pitch between the decking strips.
2...Start of laying the lime wood 5mm x 1.5mm deck strips.
3...decking nearly completed.
4...First coat of Estapol to seal deck till ready to apply the last 2 coats at a later stage.
5... fitting the bulwark post.

Hi back again.
1...Showing where the W-house sits, this vessel has a semi raised deck, the other has a full raised deck.
2...most of the bulwark planks attached.
3...bulwarks all planked up.
4...from deck view of port side.
5...Ready for the capping side strip around top of bulwark.
6...Last section of capping rail ready to be attached.

Hi there, bit more of this build.
1...Fitting the front bollard post, it locks in at the base.
2...Bollard post in its position (at this stage only temporary)..
3...Coat of undercoat (after a coat of estapol) on the motor & Servo bases. I like to use old plastic ice trays for the paint as when th paint is dry you can easily peel it off the plastic.
4...The first of 2 white undercoats above the waterline.
5..Anti fouling undercoat ( will spray the final anti fouling coat).
6..the first of 2 gloss coats inside the bulwarks....

Well done [as usual] BB :-))...without getting too far off thread, is that the Ryobi RB904 bandsaw you are using?
If it is, would be good enough to PM me with your thoughts..... I have looked at it at Bunning's, but the blade supports looked flimsy... Derek

Wow. Your woodworking skills are amazing. The detail within the fitting of parts which are hidden is superb. Well done.

Thank you for your comments 'thething84', next section of photos.
1...The side awnings for w-house shaped prior to fitting.
2...The side awnings fitted into position.
3...Making the trawl gantries ( round section for "Delta").
4...Navigation boxings and fire bucket holders for both models.
5...Soldering the webbing strengtheners for the trawl booms.
6...front hand railing soldered up (prior to cleaning).

Hi ,back again.
1...Fixing the pulling points etc to the gantries. trawl booms laying beside it.
2..The board racks for both models, these are made from brass.
3...gave her bottom her anti fouling coat.
4 & 5...Working on installing stay points etc on the gantries and trawl booms.

Hi There.
1...Ready to install her ballast slide box frame into position.
2...Showing how the ballast box's will slide onto frame.
3...All ready for her float test.
4...Sitting with no ballast in her she weighs in at 6.1 Kg or 13.42 Lbs.
5...Showing both models sitting light with no ballast installed.
6 & 7... The "Eylandter" sitting with her ballast installed 5.3 Kg or11.66 Lbs of ballast......

Hi there , last section of photo's of the "Eylandter" on her trial day at Ross & Locke watering hole (as i said in my "Delta" post) lost my driver Bob 'Old Shrimper' to the grey nomad call (gone caravaning south) so well known Fishing Family here ,the Massey Brothers ,Gordon and Kevin drove the boats while I was able to obtain some footage of them.....

Remember, Old Shrimper from NQ, he had posted a couple of builds on the forum.
Have to keep a look out when I am out and about, its a small world.
