Title: Who manufactures this tug?
Post by: yewgarth on December 26, 2015, 02:15:21 pm
Hi, I recently seen these pics on the forum. Can anybody shed any light as to who manufactures the kit? I've looked everywhere on the inter web and cannot find anything. The model is based on the alexandra tug brocklebank based on the Mersey, that's all I know. Any info would be brilliant

Many thanks

Kris

As they both show as having zero size I rather doubt it.

It could be a modified Sea Trojan.

No it's completely different I've got a sea Trojan identical to that one. I've seen a few models identical to the mystery model so it must be a manufactured tug..

The hull, disregarding the superstructure, reminds me of the Brhutu and Bjima ( please forgive the spelling) two I think Nigerian Tugs that a Mr Metcalf and the other gentleman ( Laurie White ?) who went on to form Model Slipway together both built and featured on the front of a model Boats magazine many years ago built.

I think Mr Metcalf drew the plans for them and published with a hull for Model Boats.

Looks a bit like the old Sirmar Girl class tug which someone has added a funnel to.

Superstructure is nothing like a Girl Clas Tug.

The lady Laura model is alot smaller than the tug in question.. I've seen 4 of these models and they are all identical. Somebody must be manufacturing them..

Looks like a Bosun 'Uskgarth' hull with an Alexandra towing deckhouse. I have a set of mouldings in the garage, was on ebay some years ago.
