 %%  the recorder worked ! !
What a great little film, I see Kermit Weeks has the last flying Sunderland at Fantasy Of Flight , they closed last year , wonder what became of her ?
The aircrew interviews were an insight of the way it was , I liked the explanation of why they carried pigeon's aboard , according to an ex captain it was to enable accurate navigation , the Navigator would plot the course on a map , stand a pigeon on the table & if it nodded the position was correct  {-)
Donitz ordered the U Boat crews to duke it out on the surface with the Sunderlands , they were getting nailed if they dived . . . .
Thanks for that , good spot.

I remember the last flying Short Sandringham flying at one of the last Fleetlands Open Days in Gosport, about twenty five years ago ( good grief!). Big, slow and with a turning circle that seemed to be a good couple of miles. What a wonderful sight :-) .

One of my greatest memories flying from West Freugh as an Air Cadet (137 Sqdn I think) out over Ireland and the Atlantic in a Sunderland. Used the Elsan and helped to fry bacon on the cooker.  The interior was massive to a small lad.  Must try to see this programme.

I liked the capability to slide the underwing depth charge racks inboard to reload!

My god, the R A F were cunning in those days . . . .their only just starting to use waste reclamation gases now . . .   %%   {-)   hope you WASHED your hands after BOTH events ! !
If only under hull air injection had been thought of then , we might still be using seaplanes . . .
