Title: Hull - the border between the base and the "antifouling"
Post by: Hande on January 29, 2016, 02:41:55 pm

Please, you experienced painters;
I'm wondering should the hull be painted like the real thing: first the base color all over and finally the antifouling on top. This means some of the base color is going waste under the "antifouling". The waste can may be be minimised by fading on the bottomside of the borderline.
I figure this way the border will become neat. If I attempt to border the two colors against each other, there will most certainly be a mess-up...

It's a tug, so it's no surprise that the base is black and "antifouling" is red - water-acrylic both.

Thank you Nemesis!

An unexpected solution, although now that I think about it, I saw that approach in someone's build report.

I suppose the edge of the black doesn't stand out? It's impossible to tell from the pictures of models and I hardly ever see live models to see for myself...

In the real thing, the edge of the antifouling clearly shows and I was wondering about the scale effect.
