I picked up a tip from a forum that was not actually about models.
The advice was to use a certain water-soluble general glue for the first coat - before filling. So as to make the filler stick on plastic.
No good. Don't do that. The picture is about the brand of glue that is generally available in Finland.
Problem: The glue doesn't become hard enough for sanding (may be I didn't wait long enough (I did for 24 h)). While the filler stuck nicely to the glue sanding exposed the glue, which started to peel off from beneath the filler and the whole thing went really bad.
I decided to trust fillers like Tamiya putty sticking to ABS and acrylic. Is my trust justified?

For the English that glue is Eri Keeper. Its a White PVA glue
While very good as a PVA certainly wouldn't use it on plastics.
Tamiya putty is excellent however quite expensive (more so in Finland)
Have a look for Revell Plasto or squadron white putty

Hello
when it comes to modelling do not be afraid to look else were for materials .
Paints and filler ,car shop etc
Glues building trade
Tow / mooring rope a material shop (cord).
It is a case of trail and error ,but experiment on scrap material of the same type as you are using on the model to see the results. Some times you get lucky and fine a great new glue/paint etc that works other times not so lucky . But as the test was done on scrap there is no damage to the model.
Note car filler is good stuff but never tryed it on perspex but have had good results on plastic .

Squadron White is a cellulose based filler, so any car filler would also work especially a knifing stopper, that is the extra fine stuff for filling sanding marks.
