Title: Mickey Finn 36" class by Rojair
Post by: pipcall on February 02, 2016, 07:48:17 pm
Hi, I am wanting to resurrect an old "Mickey Finn" fibre glass bare hull copy - I would appreciate any photos , plans or even comments and experience regarding this vintage 36" class . eg mast size /shape / fixing position on bow deck etc.
 cheers in anticipation
 Phil

Phil. I wondered about the sail insignia of a cat - then it dawned on me from my old sailing days, that in the US, una-rigs like that with the mast well forward are known as 'Cat-boats'!  O0
Interesting project.
Bob.

Hi Bob you got me thinkin`  - googled cat boats then una rigs and spotted this   https://lifewithafooty.wordpress.com/tag/una-rig/
not exactly what I want to sail - but I do like the sail configuration as a possible future project !.( this what retirement should be about ! ).
If I remember the Mickey Fin had a forward rotating mast/boom which pivoted from the bottom of the hull to the deck between two nylon bushes. No other guys at all  other than a leech sail tension adjuster from top of mast to end of boom. Did it use a  luff pocket ? can`t quite remember?.
catch you down the log
Phil
