Title: Borrow some money please
Post by: BFSMP on February 03, 2016, 12:08:44 am
can anyone please lend me 2.5 million pounds  as quickly as possible, on 0% interest, repayments delayed for a few years.

I want one of these and wish to grow old disgracefully.

Its the new Bugatti Chiron, due to be released at the forthcoming Geneva motor show and I just have to have one.

Jim.

A very beautiful car - have you considered a crowd funding appeal?  {-)

My need is a little less, just 86 thousand to pay off my mortgage. Unfortunately the company want it by 16th December - thats a lovely xmas pressie for them this year! Looks like we will have to sell our UK property to fund our continued retirement in the sun unless we win the lottery in the next couple of months %%

It looks wonderful & I would like one in the garage to look at but other than that I really am not sure why I would want one. There are better track day cars, better long distance tourers, better cars to do the shopping, nicer cars for a blat on a summer evening at speeds which are even vaguely sane (or legal) etc etc etc.

Other than impressing everyone with your substitute for certain abilities I really cannot see that I would want one to actually use for anything.

I say all this as someone who has been a piston head all his life.

Well if we are going into what would prefer it would be a Range Rover to drive everyday and a collection of cars like these below. Having been in a few exotic cars in my opinion the Morgan is a bigger event every time you get into it than any of the supercars.

In no way do I think of that as beautiful -  but, they say it is in the eye of the beholder, as I think it is plug-ugly compared with the Veron which is IMHO one of the finest cars ever built, and to the eye - gorgeous, in every sense of the word.

A lovely incident today - we have a clown that lives locally and drives a lime green Lamborghini. He amuses himself by accelerating as hard as he can past all the houses ( 0 - 60 in oh s***t) making a horrendous racket. He did it today straight past an unmarked police motorcyclist who was not amused. Blue lights and siren - we did laugh...

Sorry "Prince" Peter I happen to know that before you emigrated from the People`s Republic of Wasambulwaland as former custodian of that country`s gold reserves you failed to send me my promised £5m. in gold bars. Do not try to pretend you are Royal in a Communist country, we are not stupid you know and I`ve changed my bank details.  It was emptied somehow , so there.  <:(

I was looking at Landrovers for sale a few years ago - I'd always sort of fancied one - when my internet searching stumbled upon something very much like this for cheap-as-chips:

"Would you mind one of those on the driveway?" I asked Colleen, my Belfast-born wife.

I can't repeat her answer.

Peter.

I nearly fell for that one Peter, but for the fact that you can't get blood from a stone, and my bank manager once said to me..."should we go back to the original arrangement that YOU  borrow money from us, and not the other way round seeing as your overdraft is larger than our working capital this month".

Well you must accessorise Mook, so perhaps you need a number of them in different colours  ok2

Give me an Aston Martin Rapide, ANYDAY!(http://)

BTW - The last of the verification questions asks; "What is the opposite of right?" It didn't like it when I put, "Wrong".

MartinH-K   It asked me 'what do you take a photo with?' And didn't like it when I said   'a phone' {-)

As for cars, well, I would like a BMW I8. It's a (in my view) a great looking car BUT it also has the best fuel economy of any sports car I know. In fact it can do 100 km (62 miles) on 2.5 litres of petrol that's 25 miles per litre.

It annoys me that if BMW can produce a supercar with this consumption why can't all cars be made to do the same? The technology is here now, BMW are selling it.

I just googled it......... 134 miles per gallon :o :o :o :o :o

Hi I bet which magazine would disagree, they recently removed their  "Best Buy" status from several cars that had claims like that.
I do agree that fuel efficiency technology should be aimed at the bottom end of the market where it matters most.

You're really only seeing the advertising departments glossy figures of 134 mpg there unsinkable, according to what I've read, the accurate figure in real-world european driving conditions is more like 55 mpg using petrol and electric and when the batteries are flat it'll give around 30mpg . Doesn't seem so good to me for a hi-tech thing that requires specialist support and servicing, unlike my cheap'n'nasty 30 year old Ford Fester 50 odd mpg and Dave at the local garage can fix it easily.  If I'm to be stuck in slow moving/stopped traffic that seems to be the average conditions these days, I know that I'd rather do it the cheapest way possible!

What's the point of having a 'toy' car but worrying about mpg?
Mine averages 22-23, but I only do a few 000 miles a year in it, so I don't mind.

Fair comment Plague, for a 'toy' of any type it's true it doesn't matter, that is just what the fun costs, my motorcycle 'toys' definitely weren't bought with any regard to mpg even though they're not high speed machines. Most of my model aircraft have had VERY low Minutes per £!!
